God's Valentine to Us...

GOD’S UNFATHOMABLE LOVE

“For God so loved the world, that He gave His

only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him

shall not perish, but have eternal life.” John 3:16 NASB

For God—

The Majestic Almighty, Omnipotent, King of Kings

Ancient of Days, Elohim, Adonai

my beloved Abba Father

so loved—

with the bigness of His gracious agape heart

a love unfathomable, unconditional

and abounding in mercy

the world—

the whole wide world and everyone in it

in Israel, Jordan, Iran, Russia, Nigeria, China

in Ireland and Italy, where my ancestors came from

in HochHausen, Germany, where loved ones reside

where we’ve been on vacation, Aruba and Bermuda

and all of us right here, in Wayne, New Jersey

that He gave His only begotten Son—

given to us, freely, our Father’s extraordinary gift of Yeshua/Jesus

His sinless Son, to save us from punishment we deserve

for sins we have committed

that whoever believes in Him—

so all we need do to receive this wondrous gift

is believe God’s trustworthy Word

believe that Jesus was born into the world

and that He is our promised Savior

shall not perish—

because of Jesus’ sacrifice upon Calvary’s Tree

and because His Most Precious Blood atoned for all our sins

death has been swallowed up in victory!

but have eternal life—

because of Jesus’ miraculous Resurrection from death

we live because He lives

and will dwell with Him

in the Kingdom of Heaven

to enjoy unimaginable splendors

forever…forevermore

Praise the Lord!

"Spotless Little Lambs"

A-Poem-a-Day Until Christmas...

Our friend, the late Rick Sabato's painting, "Lambs."

SPOTLESS LITTLE LAMBS

Before their drowsy eyes, during watch, last night

some shepherds witnessed a startling sight—

The sky came alight! There were fluttering wings

hallelujahs and so many splendored things!

Angelic hosts proclaimed Our Messiah’s birth

with “Fear not!” and “Glorias” and joyful mirth,

so this morning from that field in Bethlehem

they set off to laud the Infant Son of HaShem[1].

Without defect or blemish, the shepherd’s pride,

spotless little lambs trotted close by their side.

When the shepherds and sheep came to the birthplace

Mary and Joseph welcomed them, face to face.

Each shepherd bowed down before the Lamb of God;

the lambs drew close to Him, but that wasn’t odd

for there was a link that united them all

in God’s marvelous plan to save the world.

All of the lambs were destined for sacrifice—

the spotless wooly lambs and God’s Lamb, the Christ!

We’re grateful for the LOVE of the great I AM;

Atonement’s achieved at the Cross of His Lamb!

Today is Our 12th Anniversary...

Happy Anniversary to Us!

Bob & Maude Pych
Celebrating our 12th anniversary
at Calandra's Cucina, Fairfield, NJ.

Here's the poem I read at our wedding ceremony in 2006:

DODI LI

For Robert Pych on Our Wedding Day, October 21, 2006

"I am my beloved's and my beloved is mine."
Song of Songs 6:3

Shirley says
my heart is a thimble
and God's love is the ocean
and He wants to pour all that love
into my little heart

I have learned that the Lord
has made my heart
a little like His own

that the heart is limitless
in its capacity to love

that it may seem
the heart's chambers
are about to burst
…yet there's still room

that bodies grow older
…but not our hearts

I have learned
that God
is the Restorer of Hearts
the Master of mending
broken ones

that although sorrow
may visit us
the heart keeps its rhythm
…hope is not shattered
utterly

I grew tired of the Titanic song
weary of Celine's heart going on
and on and on

but now I understand
the heart does go on

I've also discovered
my heart is undivided
when it professes
Ani le dodi ve dodi li
and speaks of
two bridegrooms
One of my soul…Jesus
and one of my heart…Robert

and I believe
one of the best things there is
about knowing God
is that He is Love

…that we love
because He first
loved us

He just keeps on
filling our thimbles
with inexhaustible oceans

so we'll always
always, always
have Love
to give

Maude Carolan

Note: Ani le dodi ve dodi li means "I am my beloved's and my beloved is mine" in Hebrew.

The Love of God

For Tuesday, February 23, 2016...

A-Poem-a-Day
Until Resurrection Sunday

SOMETIMES I WISH…

How can I tell
how can I show
how grateful I am
that You are my Savior?

Sometimes I wish
it were possible to
leave the roast in the oven
the suds in the sink

and follow my heart’s cry
to the land of the Bible
to climb Calvary’s hill
in beautiful Zion

Oh! I’d fall to my knees
at the foot of the Cross
and wrap my arms tightly
‘round its stained wooden base

and press a trembling cheek
against the old splintered grain
and thank You for Love
so wide and so deep
beyond what I can fathom

then I’d kiss it and weep
kiss it and weep

and whisper, I love You
from the depths of my being
for I’m eternally grateful
My Savior, My Lord

The Lord is Our Shepherd

For Thursday, February 18, 2016...

A-Poem-a-Day
Until Resurrection Day

HIS LITTLE LAMB

The Shepherd loves you, little lamb
He holds you to His breast
He strokes His hand along your back
with utmost tenderness

The hand He runs along your back
is scarred from long ago—
A nail pierced it upon a Cross
because He loves you so

You are the lamb in Jesus’ arms
safe in His loving care
Because He gave His life for you
you may ever nestle there

The Unfathomable Love of God

For Tuesday, February 16, 2016...

A-Poem-a-Day
Until Resurrection Day

IT PLEASED THE LORD TO CRUSH HIM[1]

When I applied stinging iodine
to the tender knees of my children
or a corrective spank
or a hug to assuage a broken heart
I remember that
their wounds, hurts
even the chastisements
wounded me more than them –
Why, I would've become a she-lion
poised to pounce and mangle
bruisers of my own –
yet the very God I know as Love
was pleased to crush
was delighted to bruise[2]
His Very Own

So, I shudder, convinced
God's ways are infinitely higher
than my finite mind can grasp –
for God stayed His almighty hand
held His almighty tongue
waited it out in His Heaven
pleased, even delighted
to give His Only Son
innocent, docile as a lamb
to be mocked, bruised, spat upon
crowned with thorn branches
stripped and nailed naked to a tree –

yes, pleased and delighted was He
as the Most Precious Blood
of His Only Son
rained like rubies
upon the ground

Pleased and delighted am I
that the God Who so loves
crushed and bruised
His Very Own
for me
